John McDonald founded Semihandmade in 2011 with a goal of using IKEA cabinets as a base for custom kitchens at a competitive price. Eleven years and twenty-five-thousand projects later, Semihandmade boasts eighty-plus employees, collaborations with brands such as Ceasarstone and Café Appliances, and showrooms in LA, NY, Chicago, Minneapolis, and Seattle. The company has been listed on Inc. Magazine’s fastest-growing private US companies list each of the last six years. In 2021, Semihandmade launched BOXI, the first US-built, direct-to-consumer cabinet system for the entire home. Rejuvenation (Williams-Sonoma) will be featuring BOXI cabinets in multiple showrooms and their website in Spring/Summer 2022.
